Abstract

Indonesia, as an archipelagic country, possesses vast marine resource potential; however, coastal environmental degradation driven by pollution, overfishing, and coral reef damage continues to rise. This condition underscores the urgency of enhancing students' ecological awareness through a contextual educational approach. This study aims to analyze the existing environmental learning curriculum, identify the local wisdom values of coastal communities, and formulate a curriculum model based on marine environmental management. This study employs a qualitative descriptive approach, collecting data through observation, interviews, and literature reviews, which are subsequently analyzed using a SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) matrix. The results of the study yield an integrative-contextual curriculum design that transforms local wisdom values—such as marine conservation traditions and customary fishing norms—into student materials and activities (individual, group, project-based, and contextual). The successful implementation of this curriculum model heavily relies on educator competence, the availability of local content-based learning resources, and sustainable institutional support.
