Abstract

Hypertension remains a major public health problem in Indonesia, particularly at the primary health care level. Socioeconomic factors, including employment status, may influence hypertension severity, yet evidence in primary care settings is limited. This study aimed to examine the association between employment status and hypertension stage among primary health care patients. A cross-sectional study was conducted using secondary data from medical records at Buho-Buho Primary Health Center, Morotai Island Regency, Indonesia, in 2025. A total of 69 hypertensive patients were included. Data were analyzed using SPSS version 26 with descriptive and bivariate analysis (Fisher’s exact test). Most participants were female, older adults, and employed, with stage 2 hypertension as the predominant condition. Employment status was significantly associated with hypertension stage (p < 0.05), while other variables showed no significant association. These findings highlight the importance of considering socioeconomic factors in hypertension management at the primary care level.Top of Form
