Abstract

Children with cancer face physical and psychological challenges that can affect their quality of life. Spirituality is considered an internal resource that may help them cope with chronic illness. This study aimed to examine the relationship between spirituality and quality of life among children with cancer at the Yogyakarta Childhood Cancer Foundation (YKAKI). A quantitative correlational design with a cross-sectional approach was used, involving 33 participants selected through total sampling. Data were collected using validated spirituality and quality of life questionnaires and analyzed with the Spearman Rank correlation test. The results showed that most children had high spirituality, while their quality of life was generally moderate. Statistical analysis revealed a significant positive relationship between spirituality and quality of life (p < 0.05), indicating that higher spirituality is associated with better quality of life. Spirituality serves as an adaptive coping mechanism that supports psychological well-being, highlighting the need for holistic care integrating spiritual aspects in supporting children with cancer.
