Abstract

The tradition of "Tulak Breuh" is a practice of paying fidyah as a substitute for missed prayers in Acehnese society. It is part of a cultural heritage that integrates Islamic values with local culture. The main purpose of this tradition is to fulfill the kifarah (atonement) for prayers missed by deceased individuals, aiming to mend the spiritual relationship with Allah SWT and cleanse the sins of those who neglected their worship obligations. This practice reflects the Acehnese community's understanding of the importance of fulfilling prayer duties in Islam. While recognized as part of their cultural heritage, the people of Aceh adhere to the principle reflected in their proverb: "Islamic law and customs perform the essence with the nature," indicating that Islamic law and customs are inseparable parts of their lives.
