Abstract

This research examines the effects of fractional puzzle media on the motivation and learning independence of fifth graders at SDN Burneh 1 with respect to mathematics, specifically as it pertains to the division of fractions of natural numbers. A quantitative methodology using a one-group pretest-posttest design was used. Seventeen fifth graders made up the sample, and the whole fifth grade was considered the population. Various forms of non-test instruments, such as questionnaires, are used to evaluate students' levels of learning independence, in addition to exams that measure students' drive to study. Using SPSS software, we conducted validity and reliability analyses on both measuring equipment and hypothesis testing using a normality test and a paired sample t-test to ensure their suitability. Since the first test's significance value was less than 0.05 (0.000), we can say that fractional board learning medium does have an effect on students' ability to understand what they've learned. Also, the second test's significance value was 0.000, which is lower than 0.05 as well, thus it's safe to say that the fractional board learning medium influences students' ability to learn on their own. It follows that fifth graders at SDN Burneh 1 benefit from the fractional puzzle medium in terms of intrinsic motivation and autonomy in their mathematical learning of fraction divisions using natural numbers.
