Abstract

Mental disorders are one of the health problems that can reduce an individual’s quality of life in terms of physical, psychological, and social aspects, as well as the ability to perform daily activities. Women are at a higher risk of experiencing mental disorders than men, although the patterns of mental disorders may differ. One approach that can be implemented is through activity therapy based on art and skills. This study aimed to determine the effect of creating hijab motifs using tie-dye art on the quality of life of female patients at the Aceh Mental Hospital. The sample consisted of six female patients selected using purposive sampling according to the inclusion criteria. The results of the pre-test using the Mental Health Quality of Life (MHQoL) questionnaire showed that all six respondents were categorized as having a moderate quality of life. The post-test results showed a change, with two respondents being categorized as having a high quality of life. Therefore, creating hijab motifs using tie-dye art has the potential to serve as an effective activity therapy to support improvements in the quality of life of female patients at the Aceh Mental Hospital.
