Abstract

Employee performance is a critical factor in ensuring the effectiveness and quality of public transportation services. Improving performance is not solely determined by compliance with organizational rules, but also by employees’ level of competence and the quality of the work environment. This study aims to examine the effects of work discipline, skills, and work environment on the performance of employees at BLU UPTD Trans Semarang, both partially and simultaneously. A quantitative approach with a survey design was employed. The study population consisted of 100 employees, all of whom were included as respondents using a saturated sampling technique. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using multiple linear regression, partial tests, simultaneous tests, and the coefficient of determination. The findings indicate that work discipline, skills, and work environment each have a positive and significant effect on employee performance. Skills emerged as the most dominant variable, with a regression coefficient of 0.482 and a standardized beta value of 0.406. Simultaneously, the three independent variables significantly affected employee performance, with a significance value below 0.001. The coefficient of determination of 0.836 indicates that 83.6% of the variation in employee performance is explained by work discipline, skills, and work environment, while the remaining 16.4% is attributable to other factors outside the model. These findings imply that improving employee performance requires stronger work discipline, continuous competency development, and a supportive work environment to enhance the quality of public services.
