Abstract

Background: Digital literacy and computational thinking are essential for educators to realize the 2050 education vision. Currently, many teachers in Bengkulu struggle to integrate local wisdom values into cutting-edge digital learning media. This community service activity aims to improve teachers' pedagogical capacity in designing interactive teaching materials based on computational thinking and Bengkulu's cultural identity. Method: The team implemented a direct mentoring method with a participatory action research approach. A total of 40 secondary school teachers participated in an intensive workshop. The training materials included problem decomposition practices, modeling local cultural artifacts, and operationalizing artificial intelligence (AI). Participants transformed traditional architecture and ornaments into three-dimensional media using Augmented Reality (AR) technology to develop a Local Instructional Theory (LIT). Results: Quantitative evaluation showed a drastic increase in participants' pedagogical competence. The average teacher pre-test score increased from 38.75 to 88.5 in the post-test. 87.5% of participants successfully produced drafts of interactive teaching modules that were systematically validated. The application of peer-mentoring methods between teachers proved effective in overcoming technical barriers and technology adaptation, especially among senior educators. This integrated digital module has also successfully registered its intellectual property rights status.
