Abstract

This study aims to examine the relationship between the intensity of audio-visual motion media usage and the level of cognitive understanding of basketball shooting techniques among athletes at Club Basket Justice. The study was motivated by the stagnation in performance and mastery of basic shooting techniques among novice to intermediate athletes, where conventional verbal-based training methods are often insufficient to convey the biomechanical complexity of shooting movements. A quantitative approach with a correlational research design was applied. The population and sample consisted of all 60 active athletes of Club Basket Justice, selected using a total sampling technique. Research instruments included a questionnaire measuring the intensity of audio-visual motion media use and a cognitive test assessing shooting technique understanding based on the BEEF concept (Balance, Eyes, Elbow, and Follow-through). Data were analyzed using the Pearson Product Moment correlation test with the assistance of SPSS software. The results revealed a strong and statistically significant positive correlation between the use of audio-visual motion media and athletes’ cognitive understanding of shooting techniques (r = 0.742, p < 0.05), with a coefficient of determination of 55.05%. These findings indicate that audio-visual motion media play an important role in enhancing motion memory retention, reducing cognitive load, and supporting independent biomechanical analysis. Therefore, the integration of visual-based technology is recommended as a standard component of basketball training programs to optimize motor skill acquisition in the digital era.
