Abstract

This study aims to examine the use of the environment as a learning resource in biology education and its impact on students’ learning processes and outcomes. The method used was a Systematic Literature Review (SLR), which analyzed five relevant scientific articles published between 2012-2025. Methods: The research stages included formulating research questions, conducting a literature search, establishing inclusion and exclusion criteria, selecting articles, and analyzing data. Results and Discussion: The results indicate that utilizing the environment as a learning resource can enhance understanding of biological concepts through contextual practical experiences. Furthermore, this approach also enhances student motivation, interest in learning, scientific process skills, and critical thinking abilities. Additional positive impacts are evident in improved learning outcomes across the cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domains. Conclusion: Thus, the environment plays a crucial role as an effective, innovative, and relevant learning resource in biology education and contributes to fostering environmental awareness and a caring attitude toward the environment.
