Abstract

Postoperative mobilization following a Cesarean section presents a significant challenge in the recovery process, particularly within the Enhanced Recovery After Cesarean Surgery (ERACS) protocol, which emphasizes the importance of early movement within the first six hours. One of the primary barriers to mobilization is postoperative pain, a factor that has not been extensively studied specifically in the context of ERACS. This study aims to examine the relationship between pain intensity and the level of mobilization in post-Cesarean section patients managed with the ERACS method. A descriptive correlational design with a cross-sectional approach was employed. A total of 51 patients were selected using a total sampling technique at PKU Muhammadiyah Bantul Hospital. Research instruments included the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) for pain assessment and an observation sheet for mobilization recorded at 2, 4, and 6 hours postoperatively. The results showed that the majority of patients experienced mild pain (62.7%) and achieved mobilization within the time specified by the protocol (66.7%). Chi-square analysis revealed a significant relationship between pain level and mobilization (p = 0.000), with a moderate correlation strength (contingency coefficient = 0.498). These findings highlight the critical role of effective pain management in supporting timely mobilization according to the ERACS protocol and in accelerating the overall postoperative recovery process.
