Abstract

Introduction: Early treatment of malocclusion aims to prevent soft tissue damage and lead to better jaw growth, normalization, and improvement of occlusal and orofacial function, simplifying orthodontic treatment and preventing the development of TMD symptoms. Case Report: A 13-year-old male patient reported to the Orthodontic Clinic, RSGMP UNHAS, with the chief complaint of crossbite anterior and concave profile. The patient was diagnosed with class III endoskeletal malocclusion. Cephalometric measurement showed SNA 77°, SNB 84,50, ANB -3° with overjet -7,5mm, overbite 6mm. The patients were instructed to wear the myobrace appliance (P-3) for 2 hours during the day and 8 hours at night. Patients were asked to participate in myobrace activities like tongue click, correct swallow, light breathing, paces, and lip pops. Within one month after treatment, the profile changed, and the anterior crossbite was corrected. Cephalometric after treatment showed SNA 77°, SNB 80°, ANB -3° with overjet 1mm, and overbite 3,5mm. Discussion:Treatment of myofunctional devices in orthodontics includes the treatment of facial muscle imbalance, tongue posture training, and establishing a balance between the tongue, lip, and cheek muscles. Conclusion: Myobrace appliances effectively have Class III malocclusion in early treatment.
