Abstract

Regarding efforts to increase the standard of living and income of fishermen, fishing business actors have the aim and desire to make a profit from each catch so that they can fulfill their family's needs in addition to preparing for the next fish catch. Different conditions occur in the coastal areas of Mataram City, fishermen are still carrying out activities fishing using traditional methods without making modifications. Based on this, researchers are interested in researching the feasibility of traditional fishing carried out by fishermen on the coast of Mataram City. The author can explain the problem in this research, namely whether traditional fishing is still feasible for fishermen on the coast of Mataram City when viewed from the investment criteria of Net Present Value (NPV), Pay Back Period (PP), Profitability Index (PI) and Gross B /C. This type of research is research using a survey sample method with a sample size of 40 people. Based on the analysis of Net Present Value (NPV) investment criteria, a value of IDR is obtained. 34,451,030,-. Payback Period (PP) is 2 years 5 months 6 days, Profitability Index (PI) is 3.020 and Gross B/C is 1.48. It can be concluded that fishing activities carried out by coastal fishermen in Mataram City are still feasible.

Abstract

The floating lift-net (*bagan apung*) business in several regions of Indonesia holds significant economic potential and is worthy of development. However, the business faces various challenges, such as fluctuating catch yields, seasonal changes, rising fuel prices, high operational costs, and unpredictable weather. These conditions can impact profitability and the sustainability of the fishermen's operations. Business feasibility analysis is a method used to assess whether a business is viable from both financial and economic perspectives. The research questions addressed in this study are: What are the investment costs, operational costs, revenues, and profits of the floating lift-net business in the waters of Batu Nampar, Jerowaru District, East Lombok Regency? Is the floating lift-net business in this area financially viable? What strategies are appropriate for developing this business? A quantitative descriptive research method was employed. The study found the following figures for the floating lift-net business in Batu Nampar Village: investment cost of Rp 62,120,000; total monthly cost of Rp 26,888,333; monthly revenue of Rp 37,875,000; and monthly profit of Rp 10,986,666.67. Financial analysis yielded an R/C ratio of 1.4, a Break-Even Point (BEP) in quantity of approximately 20,137 kg, a BEP in price of approximately Rp 1,271,063.9, and a Payback Period (PP) of 7 months and 5 days. The appropriate strategy for the floating lift-net business in the Batu Nampar waters is the SO (Strengths-Opportunities) strategy, which is an aggressive approach.
