Abstract

ABSTRACT Clove plants (Syzygium aromaticum L. (Merr & Perry) in Indonesia are approximately 95% cultivated by the people in the form of smallholder plantations spread across all provinces. The remaining 5% are cultivated by private plantations and state plantations. A survey conducted by the Unsrat Faculty of Agriculture team in 2016 to early 2017 on clove plantations in Pinolosian District and Central Pinolosian District, found stem borer beetles that attack clove trees, resulting in the death of plants aged around 5-20 years in several clove plantations (Watung et al., 2020). n this study, low diversity and activity of beetles (Coleoptera) in certain habitats were found, influenced by environmental factors such as rainfall and host plant species. The main objective of this study was to analyze the diversity and dominance of beetle communities (Coleoptera) and to determine the influence of environmental factors on beetle activity. The methods used included collecting beetle data using color traps and lure compounds made from ethanol and alpha-pinene, as well as statistical analysis in the form of analysis of variance (ANOVA) to measure differences in treatments and environmental factors. The results showed 12 beetle families were found, with Curculionidae as the dominant family and the diversity index value was in the medium category. ANOVA analysis showed that the three treatments did not differ significantly. The conclusion of this study is that the diversity and activity of beetles (Coleoptera) are influenced by environmental factors, and climatic conditions and the dry season support the diversity of beetle communities (Coleoptera). Therefore, this study is recommended to be implemented in the dry season for optimal results and to support the ecological management of beetles in related habitats. Abstract

Spinach is a type of leafy vegetable that has high nutritional value and is widely consumed by the community as a source of important nutrients for the body. In general, spinach is known for its protein, vitamins A and C, and B vitamins, and also contains mineral salts such as calcium (Ca), phosphorus (P), and iron (Fe). Batik spinach (Amaranthus tricolor L.) is a plant that belongs to the Amaranthaceae family and originates from North Amerika. PGPR (Plant Growth Promoting Rhizobacteria) are a group of beneficial bacteria that live in the root zone (rhizosphere) and play an important role in enhancing plant growth and productivity. This study aimed to determine the effect of PGPR application on the growth and yield of batik spinach (Amaranthus tricolor L.) and to find optimal concentration of PGPR. The study wa conducted in the greenhouse of the Faculty of Agriculture, Sam Ratulangi University, Manado, in June to July 2025, using a completely randomaized design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 4 replications (20 plants). The treatments were plant height, number o leaves, fresh weight, and root weight. The results showed that PGPR treatment affected the growth of batik spinach, with the optimal concentration being 35 ml/L of water.
