This research is motivated by the challenges of shaping students' religious character in the modern era. Islamic Guidance and Counseling (BKI) plays a strategic role in instilling Islamic values in students. This study aims to determine the role, strategies or approaches used, the resulting forms of religious character, and the challenges and obstacles in the implementation of Islamic Guidance and Counseling at SMP Assa’adah Limbangan, Garut. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. The research subjects were 9th-grade students, the Guidance and Counseling teacher, the principal, and several other teachers at SMP Assa’adah Limbangan. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results indicate that the role of Islamic Guidance and Counseling at SMP Assa’adah is effectively carried out through preventive, curative (corrective), and developmental functions. The strategies employed include the method of habituation (such as congregational prayer and tadarus), role modeling (uswah hasanah), discussion, and storytelling (qishah). The implementation of BKI has successfully fostered religious character in students, reflected in their obedience in worship, discipline, responsibility, helpfulness, and environmental awareness. The main supporting factors are the religious environment of the Islamic boarding school (pesantren) and the synergy between the school and the pesantren. Meanwhile, the obstacles include limited guidance and counseling facilities, restricted service time allocation, and the qualifications of the counseling teacher not being fully aligned with the field of study.
