Abstract

The MICE industry represents a strategic sector in tourism development, as it contributes to increasing business tourist arrivals, expanding economic activity, and stimulating various supporting sectors within a destination. Bogor has considerable potential to be developed as a MICE destination due to its strategic proximity to Jakarta, the availability of meeting facilities, natural tourism attractions, supporting amenities, and the presence of tourism and creative economy actors. This study aims to analyse the potential and competitiveness of Bogor as a MICE destination by examining several key dimensions, including accessibility, attractions, amenities, destination image, human resources, and stakeholder support. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed through a literature review, involving the examination of documents, scientific publications, official reports, and other relevant sources related to the development of the MICE sector in Bogor. The findings indicate that Bogor possesses competitive advantages, supported by large-scale venues, hotels, resorts, tourist attractions, and a destination image associated with natural and recreational characteristics. However, the development of Bogor as a MICE destination continues to face challenges, particularly in terms of coordination among stakeholders. Therefore, efforts to strengthen Bogor’s position as a national MICE hub should focus on establishing a clear destination positioning, developing integrated MICE packages, improving infrastructure and service quality, and fostering sustainable cross-sector partnerships.
