Abstract

A microhydro power plant (PLTMH) utilizes flowing water, such as rivers or natural waterfalls. A microhydro power plant has a main component called a turbine. The turbine converts the kinetic energy of the fluid into mechanical energy, which is then converted into electrical energy by a generator, one of which is a crossflow turbine. In this study, the crossflow turbine was chosen as a material for the study to analyze several designs including variations in the number of blades, diameter, angle and variations in nozzle design that have an impact on sustainable efficiency where the design of the variation in the number of blades 28 effectively affects the efficiency value with the power produced 24.41kW and for the efficiency value of 79% because it is very optimal while from the variation in the number of blades 26 and 30 the efficiency decreases at 72%, 76%, for angles <30o with an ideal efficiency value of 78%. Water comes out of the first phase blade radially towards the center of the runner, then crosses at the right angle to hit the opposite blade in the second phase and the semi-elliptical or curved nozzle design is a very optimal design for increasing the performance and efficiency of the crossflow turbine in the MHP system.
