Abstract

Ultrasonography (USG) is one of the most widely used diagnostic imaging modalities because it is non-invasive, free from ionizing radiation, relatively affordable, and capable of providing real-time anatomical information. In primary healthcare facilities (Puskesmas), USG has become increasingly important, particularly for maternal health services, abdominal examinations, and early disease screening. However, many healthcare workers have limited competence in operating USG equipment and performing routine maintenance, resulting in suboptimal utilization of available equipment. This community service program aimed to improve the knowledge and practical skills of healthcare workers regarding the proper operation and preventive maintenance of Ultrasonography (USG) equipment. The activity employed an educational-participatory approach consisting of lectures, demonstrations, hands-on practice, discussions, and evaluations using a one-group pretest-posttest design. Fifteen healthcare workers, including general practitioners, midwives, nurses, and electromedical technicians, participated in the training. The average knowledge score increased from 61.8 during the pretest to 90.7 after the training, representing a 46.8% improvement. Practical competency evaluation showed that 80% of participants reached the "Excellent" category, while the remaining 20% were classified as "Good." Participants expressed high satisfaction with both the theoretical and practical components of the training. The training significantly improved participants' competence in operating and maintaining USG equipment, thereby supporting the enhancement of diagnostic services at primary healthcare facilities.
