Abstract

The exposure factor is the factor that determines the intensity and quality of X-rays received by the patient. Exposure factors that can be controlled are: tube voltage (kV), tube current (mA), irradiation time (second), and distance of the X-ray tube to the film (FFD). The purpose of this study was to capture X-rays at a relatively affordable manufacturing price and to obtain a difference in value from the detector's catch between dark and light by utilizing the response of the BPW34 photodiode sensor. The contribution of this study is that the system can display grayscale and numerical on an 8x8 pixel matrix using the Matrix Laboratory (MATLAB) Application. This study was able to convert images taken from analog data after taking measurements on X-rays. The measurements are carried out by 2 methods, there are range used was 32-63mA, with a tube voltage of 50 kV at an irradiation duration of 1 second and 50 - 70 kV, with a tube current of 40 mA and an irradiation duration of 1 second. From the measurement results, it shows that the Flat Panel Detector Design Tool after being compared with the Philips brand DR is able to respond to differences in dose and object thickness. The results of this study indicate that this tool can be used to capture X-rays so that the degree of blackness of the film can be known.

Abstract

Each radiology or X-ray device is required to perform a functional or performance test of an X-ray aircraft in accordance with the radiation safety standards of the International Nuclear Energy Agency (IAEA). The suitability test has several parameters and parts. In the X-ray Aircraft Suitability Test, there are X-ray beam collimation tests, X-ray generators and tubes, and AEC. However, the illumination and collimation test still uses the manual method. The purpose of this research is to develop the simplest method, which is to measure the illumination at four points simultaneously and store the measurement data directly. This module is designed to use the HC-SR04 sensor as a distance meter and the TSL2561 sensor as a light meter. This module is designed using the HC-SR04 sensor as a distance meter and TSL2561 sensor as a lux meter. In this research, the module has been tested and compared with the results of a comparison tool (Digital Light Meter) and got an error value of 1.55% with a module efficiency of 98.45% in the illumination test, and an error of 1.8% with a module efficiency of 98.2% in the collimator test. From this research, it can be concluded that the light sensor TSL2561 can be used to measure the illumination area of the collimator lamp. The contribution of this research is expected to be more efficient tool testing, and the data will be saved until the next testing time

Abstract

The electrical safety of medical equipment is crucial to prevent hazards that endanger both healthcare workers and patients. Krembangan Health Center faces significant challenges due to staff's limited knowledge about electrical safety, including leakage current detection. The aim of this study was to enhance staff skills in ensuring electrical safety through a focused training program. The program covered the basics of electrical safety, leakage current risks, and practical use of a digital multimeter for inspections. Field surveys and practical training were conducted to inspect and measure electrical systems across the health center. Results revealed inadequate grounding, uneven load distribution, and leakage voltage up to 99 volts AC in the new building, while the old building had minor leakage issues. The conclusion emphasized the need for regular maintenance, comprehensive electrical safety audits, and ongoing staff training to ensure long-term safety. These efforts aim to create a safer healthcare environment, improving the reliability of medical equipment and safeguarding patient care.

Abstract

Early childhood is a critical phase for physical and cognitive development, making early detection of stunting vital to a child’s long-term health. Traditional methods of measuring infant growth in regions like Indonesia rely on manual data collection, leading to delays in identifying stunting. This study aims to implement a web-based system for infant weight and height measurements to assist healthcare workers in early stunting detection at Krembangan Posyandu, Surabaya. The system provides real-time monitoring, automatic z-score calculations, and data storage, enhancing efficiency and accuracy. Methodologically, the tool was tested with 16 infants, allowing cadres to input measurements directly into a web platform for analysis. Results showed the tool's ease of use, increased speed in data handling, and improved access to growth data, reducing manual errors. The findings indicated that most infants had healthy growth, though a few required further attention. In conclusion, this web-based tool significantly improves the accuracy and timeliness of stunting detection, with implications for wider adoption in regions with limited healthcare infrastructure. However, limitations include a small sample size and a lack of assessment of long-term outcomes. Future research should focus on larger populations and the tool’s integration into broader healthcare systems

Abstract

Stunting is a long-term health problem that mainly impacts the growth and development of young children, particularly in residential areas like Kelurahan Krembangan Selatan, Surabaya. A significant obstacle in preventing stunting is finding a practical way to assess children's nutritional status. This community study aims to raise awareness and educate people about the use of Android-based tools for monitoring body mass index (BMI) and basal metabolic rate (BMR) as innovative methods for detecting stunting risk. The device, tested on 16 infants, enables users to submit detailed data to a web platform for further analysis. Findings reveal that this tool simplifies processes, accelerates data handling, and provides quicker access to up-to-date information, thereby reducing the burden of manual tasks. Results also show that most infants have healthy growth, although some individuals may need more time to understand the benefits. In general, this web-based solution greatly improves the precision and speed of stunting detection and could be widely adopted in areas with limited healthcare infrastructure. However, the study is limited by its small sample size and limited assessment of result length. Future research should focus on a broader population and integrating this tool into larger healthcare systems. This innovation facilitates timely and accurate monitoring of young children's health. The hope is that it will become part of regular posyandu services to help strengthen the stunting prevention program across the Puskesmas Krembangan Selatan area.

Abstract

This community service activity focuses on counseling and training related to the operation and maintenance of fetal Doppler devices as an effort to improve maternal and child health services in the South Krembangan Village area, Surabaya. Fetal Doppler is a critical medical device used to monitor fetal heart rate and ensure the well-being of the fetus during pregnancy. However, its effectiveness greatly depends on the users' knowledge and skills, particularly among midwives and health workers at Community Health Centers (Puskesmas). The activity involved structured training sessions combining theoretical explanations and practical demonstrations, aiming to enhance participants’ understanding of safe device operation, routine maintenance procedures, and early detection of equipment malfunctions. The results showed increased competency among participants in both operating the device and performing basic troubleshooting. This initiative not only supports the continuity of quality antenatal care but also strengthens local health capacity in the effort to reduce maternal and infant morbidity and mortality. Continuous follow-up and evaluation are recommended to sustain the impact of the program.

Abstract

Ultrasonography (USG) is one of the most widely used diagnostic imaging modalities because it is non-invasive, free from ionizing radiation, relatively affordable, and capable of providing real-time anatomical information. In primary healthcare facilities (Puskesmas), USG has become increasingly important, particularly for maternal health services, abdominal examinations, and early disease screening. However, many healthcare workers have limited competence in operating USG equipment and performing routine maintenance, resulting in suboptimal utilization of available equipment. This community service program aimed to improve the knowledge and practical skills of healthcare workers regarding the proper operation and preventive maintenance of Ultrasonography (USG) equipment. The activity employed an educational-participatory approach consisting of lectures, demonstrations, hands-on practice, discussions, and evaluations using a one-group pretest-posttest design. Fifteen healthcare workers, including general practitioners, midwives, nurses, and electromedical technicians, participated in the training. The average knowledge score increased from 61.8 during the pretest to 90.7 after the training, representing a 46.8% improvement. Practical competency evaluation showed that 80% of participants reached the "Excellent" category, while the remaining 20% were classified as "Good." Participants expressed high satisfaction with both the theoretical and practical components of the training. The training significantly improved participants' competence in operating and maintaining USG equipment, thereby supporting the enhancement of diagnostic services at primary healthcare facilities.
