Abstract

The performance of photovoltaic (PV) modules is strongly influenced by their operating temperature, where an increase in temperature leads to a reduction in efficiency and power output. This study aims to analyze the thermal performance and its impact on the electrical performance of a 30 WP Floating Photovoltaic Thermal (FPV-T) system incorporating cross-cut aluminum cooling fins. The research employed a laboratory-scale experimental method with three system configurations: FPV-T without fins, FPV-T with non-immersed cross-cut fins, and FPV-T with 5 cm immersed cross-cut fins. Experiments were conducted using a solar simulator with controlled radiation intensity, and periodic measurements of module temperature and electrical power output were performed. The results show that the FPV-T configuration with 5 cm immersed cross-cut fins provides the best thermal performance, achieving a reduction in average module temperature of 6.69 °C and a maximum temperature reduction of 14.25 °C compared to the module without fins. Further analysis under full radiation (806.08 W/m²) and half radiation (350.48 W/m²) conditions confirms stable and effective cooling performance. The reduction in module operating temperature contributes to an increase in power output of up to 18.3%, indicating that this configuration has strong potential to enhance the performance and reliability of floating photovoltaic systems.
