Abstract

The rapidly growing cosmetics industry requires companies to manage their packaging material inventory effectively. PT. Alwinda Pratama Jaya (APJ) faces the problem of inventory imbalances for 150 ml body lotion bottles due to an ordering system that does not account for fluctuations in usage, thereby creating the risk of overstock and stockouts. This study aims to determine the optimal order quantity, reorder point, and safety stock using the Economic Order Quantity (EOQ) method. The data used consists of the company’s historical data from 2025, analyzed using a descriptive quantitative approach. The results show that the economic order quantity is 18,110 units per order with a frequency of 23 times per year, which is more efficient than the company’s current policy of 35,000 units with a frequency of 12 times per year. The total inventory cost using the EOQ method is Rp 6,990,536, which is Rp 1,564,464 lower than the company’s policy of Rp 8,555,000. The required safety stock is 3,435 pieces, with a reorder point of 11,187 pieces. The application of the EOQ method has proven effective in optimizing inventory control for body lotion bottle packaging materials at PT. Alwinda Pratama Jaya by reducing inventory costs while maintaining smooth production operations.
