Abstract

This research aims to analyze and describe the school principal's leadership strategies for enhancing teacher performance at TK Adhyaksa VII Talang Kelapa, located in Sukamoro, Talang Kelapa Subdistrict, Banyuasin Regency, South Sumatra. The research object is the school principal's leadership strategies in this context. The approach employed is qualitative, utilizing a qualitative descriptive method. Primary data sources were obtained from interviews with the principal, teachers, and other school community members. Secondary data encompass documents such as the school profile, organizational structure, list of educators and education personnel, student enrollment numbers, teacher performance evaluations, learning supervision records, facilities and infrastructure details, teaching schedules, and related materials. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, and documentation. Data validity was ensured through triangulation, while data analysis applied qualitative techniques incorporating typology and SWOT analysis. The research findings indicate: (1) The school principal's leadership strategy emphasizes conditioning teachers to maintain discipline in learning administration (such as prota, promes, syllabus, and RPP), conducting assessments, performing learning evaluations, implementing follow-up assessments, and mastering instructional content. (2) Leadership supervision at TK Adhyaksa VII Talang Kelapa has proven effective in improving teacher performance through a development-oriented approach, rather than sanctions. (3) The primary obstacles include teachers' lack of discipline, limited mastery of subject matter and references, inadequate facilities, and low awareness among teachers of advancements in science and technology. (4) Efforts to address these obstacles involve enhancing teacher competencies within the school and strengthening internal teacher awareness through initiatives led by the principal.
