Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of character education in Pancasila and Citizenship Education (PPKn) learning, the obstacles faced, and efforts to overcome these obstacles in grade VII students of SMP Negeri 7 Alasa. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive research type. The research subjects include the principal, PPKn teachers, and grade VII students. Data collection techniques were carried out through interviews, observation, and documentation. Data analysis techniques include data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study indicate that: First, the implementation of character education in PPKn learning for grade VII students of SMP Negeri 7 Alasa has been running quite well through the integration of character values into learning materials, the use of active learning methods, teacher role models, and habituation of attitudes in the school environment. The dominant character values developed include discipline, responsibility, honesty, tolerance, and love of the homeland. Second, obstacles in the implementation of character education come from internal and external factors of students, such as differences in family background, the influence of the social environment, uncontrolled use of technology and social media, and low self-awareness of some students regarding the importance of character values. Third, efforts made by schools to overcome these obstacles include collaboration with parents, strengthening character education through school activities, personal approaches by teachers, and teacher role models in attitudes and behavior. These efforts demonstrate the school's commitment to strengthening character education, although consistent and sustainable improvement is still needed.
