Abstract

Students at SMK Negeri 2 Pandeglang show greater interest in audiovisual poetry presentations than in conventional text-based poetry. Some students experience difficulty understanding the poem Untukmu by Fiersa Besari when it is presented only in written form because it contains many connotative diction choices and figurative meanings that are unfamiliar in everyday communication. However, their comprehension improves when the poem is combined with visual and audio elements. This study aims to analyze the effect of integrating multimodal elements into digital poetry on the clarity of meaning in literature learning compared with its conventional version. The study employed a qualitative method based on Rachmat Djoko Pradopo’s stylistic theory. Data were collected through semi-structured in-depth interviews with one teacher and fifteen students, as well as non-participant observation, and were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model with triangulation. The findings indicate that the diction, figures of speech, and imagery remain textually unchanged, while multimodal elements such as typography, background music, intonation, and visual presentation significantly enhance the clarity of meaning. A total of 86.7% of students considered the digital version easier to understand, and 93.3% were willing to use it as instructional material. The study concludes that the integration of multimodal elements enhances the clarity of meaning without altering the linguistic essence of the poem, making the digital version of Untukmu a suitable alternative literary learning resource for digital-generation vocational high school students.
