Abstract

Mental health during pregnancy is an essential aspect of maternal well-being that often receives less attention than physical health. Psychological problems experienced during pregnancy, such as anxiety, stress, and depression, can negatively affect both maternal and fetal health outcomes. Therefore, understanding the factors that influence the psychological well-being of pregnant women is important for developing effective interventions and support systems. This study aimed to identify the dominant factors influencing the psychological well-being of pregnant women through a literature review of 20 relevant research articles. The review was conducted using journal searches from the Google Scholar database and the Garuda Portal. Articles were selected based on their relevance to maternal mental health during pregnancy and were analyzed to identify common findings related to psychological well-being. The results of the review revealed that several factors significantly influence the mental health of pregnant women. Social support from partners, family members, and healthcare providers was identified as the most influential protective factor. In addition, maternal age, economic status, educational level, and pregnancy-related complications were found to affect anxiety and stress levels. The findings suggest that psychosocial interventions and strong partner support play a vital role in reducing the risk of antenatal depression and promoting better mental health during pregnancy.
