Abstract

The Great Parent School (Sekolah Orang Tua Hebat / SOTH) is part of family education strengthening through the Toddler Family Development program. Parenting practices are shaped not only by the information parents receive, but also by prior experience, routines, values, and frames of reference developed in everyday life. This study analyzes the implementation of transformative learning in the SOTH program in Rambigundam Village, Rambipuji District, Jember Regency. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed. Informants were SOTH facilitators and Family Planning Field Extension Officers involved in program implementation. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and document review, including learning modules, instructional media, pretest-posttest sheets, evaluation forms, Child Development Cards, and program administration records. The analysis focused on five components: syntax, social system, principles of reaction, support system, and instructional as well as nurturant effects. The findings show that SOTH learning moved from exploring parenting experiences and identifying problems to dialogue and reflection, consideration of alternative actions, and evaluation. A posttest result indicating that 90% of participants understood the concept of positive self-concept points to cognitive learning gains, while discussion, experience sharing, and home assignments indicate a process of reconsidering parenting perspectives. The study therefore positions SOTH not merely as a channel for transferring parenting information, but as an adult learning space in which participants can reinterpret their parenting experiences.
