Abstract

The character crisis has become one of the most vital problems for the nation. The study aims to analyze the management of Diklat Karsa based on cadetship in shaping the character of new students at SMKN 1 Pangandaran. The research method employed is descriptive with a qualitative approach, using interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis, which were then examined through George R. Terry’s theory of the four management functions: planning, organizing, actuating, and controlling. The findings reveal that at SMKN 1 Pangandaran, the implementation of Diklat Karsa for character development of new students applies George R. Terry’s four management functions—planning, organizing, actuating, and controlling. Furthermore, effective management practices combined with support from various stakeholders enabled the program to run according to plan and achieve its objectives. It is expected that the Diklat Karsa program will continue to be developed innovatively and become a best practice for strengthening character education in vocational high schools.
