Abstract

This research explores the optimization of English vocabulary acquisition for Hospitality Vocational High School students through an AI-based e-book, specifically "English Vocabulary Booster: Education and Tourism Context." The study addresses the pedagogical gap between passive vocabulary comprehension and active oral production within the framework of English for Specific Purposes (ESP). Employing the 4-D Research and Development (R&D) model consisting of Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate. This study focuses on evaluating the validity of the e-book through expert and user assessments to ensure its feasibility and alignment with user requirements. Data were collected through classroom observations, interviews, and questionnaires, with reliability ensured via source triangulation. The findings demonstrate that the e-book is categorized as "Very Feasible" based on rigorous validation from subject matter experts, media specialists, and user trials. Results indicate that the integration of multimedia elements, interactive features, and AI-driven phonetic support significantly enhances student motivation and autonomous learning. Specifically, the e-book facilitates a transition from general academic proficiency to the specialized communicative competence required for hospitality protocols, such as the 'sequence of service.' The study concludes that shifting from conventional, teacher-centered media to adaptive digital platforms fosters contextual clarity and professional fluency. Despite its small scale, this research establishes a strategic foundation for integrating AI-driven pedagogy into vocational curricula to bridge the theory-practice gap.
