Abstract

Pocket money management is an important aspect of students’ financial behavior associated with lifestyle, digital social pressure, and self-control. This study aimed to analyze the partial and simultaneous effects of hedonic lifestyle, fear of missing out (FOMO), and self-control on pocket money management among Management students at Universitas PGRI Madiun. A quantitative approach with a causal-associative research design was employed, involving 305 students selected through proportionate stratified random sampling. Data were collected using a four-point Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed using SPSS version 24. The results showed that all instruments were valid and reliable. Classical assumption tests indicated normally distributed residuals and no linearity, multicollinearity, or heteroscedasticity problems. Hedonic lifestyle had a positive and significant effect on pocket money management (β = 0.260; p = 0.000), while FOMO had a negative but insignificant effect (β = −0.038; p = 0.679). Self-control had a positive and significant effect (β = 0.435; p = 0.000). Simultaneously, hedonic lifestyle, FOMO, and self-control significantly affected pocket money management (F = 36.975; R² = 0.269). Thus, hedonic lifestyle and self-control significantly influence students’ pocket money management, whereas FOMO does not.
