Abstract

The high spread of disinformation and low reading interest demand inclusive digital spaces. Unfortunately, current storytelling platforms are generally native apps that consume device memory and rely on internet connectivity, degrading the User Experience (UX). This study aims to develop a Progressive Web App (PWA)-based storytelling application to overcome technical accessibility constraints and evaluate its impact on UX and digital literacy. This study uses a Research and Development (R&D) approach with the Waterfall model. System performance was tested using Google Lighthouse, while UX was evaluated quantitatively on 15 respondents using the System Usability Scale (SUS) with descriptive statistical analysis. Lighthouse audit results showed excellence in accessibility (96.4), although initial performance (51.0) requires optimization. The SUS testing yielded a score of 54.17 (Marginal category), indicating that PWA features (offline mode and add to home screen) functionally overcome native app memory constraints but require user interface refinement. In conclusion, the PWA innovation architecturally provides a ready, safe, and lightweight infrastructure to facilitate users' digital literacy optimization, with empirical measurement of literacy behavior as a future agenda.
