Abstract

Body lotion is a cosmetic product designed to maintain skin moisture. This study aimed to evaluate the safety, packaging compatibility, and moisturizing effectiveness of body lotions containing cinnamon essential oil (Cinnamomum burmannii) and almond oil (Oleum amygdalae). An experimental study was conducted using four formulations: F0, F1, F2, and F3. Safety was assessed via a 48-hour patch test on 15 panelists; compatibility was evaluated through physical observation and GC-MS analysis; and moisturizing effectiveness was measured using a skin analyzer over a four-week period. The results showed that none of the formulations (F0, F1, F2, or F3) caused erythema, edema, itching, or a burning sensation, indicating they were non-irritating. Physical observations revealed that all formulations were homogeneous and semi-solid in consistency. GC-MS analysis identified 19 dominant compounds, such as benzaldehyde and D-limonene. Moisture measurements showed an increase in skin moisture for all formulations over the four weeks, with the highest value observed in F1 (59.1%). Changes over time were significant (p < 0.001), whereas, overall, there were no significant differences between the formulations (p = 0.591 > 0.05). However, a significant difference between formulations was observed at the fourth week (p = 0.018 < 0.05). Thus, while all formulations demonstrated an increase in skin moisture over the four-week period, there was no overall significant difference in effectiveness among them.
