Abstract

Students’ saving behavior is an important aspect of financial behavior that can be influenced by various individual and environmental factors. This study aims to identify and classify the factors influencing students’ saving behavior based on findings from previous studies. A Systematic Literature Review (SLR) was conducted in accordance with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. Relevant literature was identified through national and international scientific publication sources, including Google Scholar, Scopus, Publish or Perish, and Web of Science, using the keyword “Saving.” The literature selection process consisted of four stages: identification, screening, eligibility assessment, and inclusion. A total of 25 relevant articles were included in the review. The synthesis identified seven factors influencing saving behavior, which were classified into two categories: internal and external factors. Internal factors consisted of income, financial literacy, self-control, and saving motives, whereas external factors comprised peer influence, parental socialization, and macroeconomic conditions. The findings indicate that students’ saving behavior is influenced by both individual characteristics and external conditions. This classification provides an integrated understanding of the factors associated with students’ saving behavior and may serve as a basis for developing strategies to strengthen students’ saving practices
