Abstract

Back pain in third-trimester pregnant women is a common complaint affecting physical and psychological conditions. It often causes activity limitations, sleep disturbances, fatigue, anxiety, and decreased quality of life. This study aimed to map the impact of back pain in third-trimester pregnant women based on recent studies. A scoping review was conducted by searching the EBSCO, Scopus, PubMed, and ProQuest databases for literature on pregnancy, back pain, and quality of life using keywords. The review showed that back pain significantly affects daily activities, mobility, sleep quality, and psychological conditions in pregnant women. Common impacts included limited mobility, sleep disturbances, fatigue, increased anxiety, and decreased quality of life, which tended to worsen with increasing gestational age. Back pain in the third trimester has multidimensional impacts; therefore, appropriate prevention, education, and management are needed to improve maternal well-being and quality of life during pregnancy.
