Abstract

This study aimed to determine the relationship between arm muscle strength and hand–eye coordination and the underhand passing ability of volleyball extracurricular participants at MTS Satu Atap Pelawe, Musi Rawas Regency. This study employed a quantitative approach. The population of this study consisted of volleyball extracurricular participants at MTS Satu Atap Pelawe, Musi Rawas Regency. The sample was selected using a total sampling technique and consisted of 30 participants. Data were collected through tests and measurements. The data analysis techniques used were the normality test, Pearson Product-Moment correlation test, and multiple correlation test. The results of the study showed that: (1) there was a significant relationship between arm muscle strength and underhand passing ability, with a calculated correlation coefficient of r = 0.743, which was greater than the critical value of r = 0.3610; (2) there was a significant relationship between hand–eye coordination and underhand passing ability, with a calculated correlation coefficient of r = 0.686, which was greater than the critical value of r = 0.3610; and (3) there was a significant relationship between arm muscle strength and hand–eye coordination simultaneously and underhand passing ability, with a calculated correlation coefficient of r = 0.811, which was greater than the critical value of r = 0.3610. The coefficient of determination (R²) was 65.5%. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that arm muscle strength and hand–eye coordination are factors that are significantly associated with volleyball underhand passing ability, both individually and collectively, among volleyball extracurricular participants at MTS Satu Atap Pelawe, Musi Rawas Regency.
