Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the relationship between the husband's role and adherence to multiple micronutrient supplement (MMS) consumption among pregnant women. An observational analytic study with a cross-sectional design was conducted involving 30 pregnant women. Data analysis was performed using univariate and bivariate methods, specifically the Pearson Chi-Square test. The majority of respondents were aged 20–35 years (73.3%), had a high school education (53.3%), were unemployed (63.3%), and were multiparous (53.3%). The husband's role was categorized as good for 43.3% of respondents, fair for 33.3%, and poor for 23.4%, while adherence to MMS consumption was observed in 66.7% of the pregnant women. Cross-tabulation revealed adherence rates of 92.3% in the group with a good husband's role, 70.0% in the group with a fair husband's role, and only 14.3% in the group with a poor husband's role. The Pearson Chi-Square test yielded a χ² value of 14.807 (p = 0.001), indicating a statistically significant relationship. A Cramer’s V value of 0.703 signified a strong relationship. These findings confirm that husband involvement is a crucial social determinant of adherence to supplementation during pregnancy. Involving husbands in antenatal education needs to be strengthened to improve MMS consumption adherence and support the nutritional status of pregnant women.
