Abstract

This article presents an analysis of the secondary tabulation dataset on third trimester pregnant women with mild anemia at the Lelilef Health Center. The purpose of the analysis was to assess whether the consumption of dates as a companion to blood-boosting tablets was associated with a higher increase in hemoglobin levels than blood-boosting tablets alone. The dataset reflects a pretest-posttest with control group quasi-experimental design with 30 respondents, 15 people each in the intervention and control groups. The intervention group received blood-boosting tablets accompanied by the consumption of 6-7 dates per day for 14 days, while the control group received blood-only tablets. The analysis was carried out descriptively, paired t-test, independent t-test, and Fisher test. The average pre-test hemoglobin of the two groups was relatively comparable, but the mean hemoglobin post-test of the intervention group was higher, at 11.83 g/dL compared to 10.44 g/dL in the control group. The average increase in hemoglobin reached 1.83 g/dL in the intervention group and 0.58 g/dL in the control group. Normal hemoglobin status after the intervention was achieved by 93.3% of the intervention respondents, while the control group was only 20.0%. These results suggest that dates have the potential to be a practical nutritional companion to support blood-boosting tablet therapy in mild end-trimester anemia, but the interpretation needs to be cautious because the source worksheet marks the dataset as simulation data and the sample count is limited.
