Abstract

The development of tourism provides economic opportunities for local communities but also poses challenges in preserving the environment and local culture. One approach that can be applied is ecopreneurship, which integrates economic, social, cultural, and environmental aspects. Penglipuran Tourism Village in Bangli Regency, Bali, is a traditional village that develops sustainable tourism while maintaining its cultural identity through the implementation of customary law. This study aims to analyze the role of customary law in shaping ecopreneurship-based character among the community of Penglipuran Tourism Village. The research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection through observation, interviews, and literature review. The results show that awig-awig, perarem, and the values of Tri Hita Karana play a role in forming character traits such as discipline, responsibility, cooperation, environmental awareness, and cultural preservation. These characteristics support the implementation of ecopreneurship through community-based tourism management, development of local MSMEs, sustainable utilization of natural resources, and preservation of culture and the environment. Thus, customary law serves as an important instrument in shaping community character that supports economic, social, cultural, and environmental sustainability.
