Abstract

Background: Tuberculosis (TB) is one of the infectious diseases that remains a public health problem worldwide, including in Indonesia. Data from the Banten Provincial Health Research and Development Agency (Riskesdas) shows the highest increase in cases in Indonesia, with 3,844 cases in South Tangerang. This study aims to examine the relationship between individual hosts and the environment with TB incidence. Method: The research design employed a case-control study with a sample of 80 respondents, comprising a 1:1 ratio of 40 cases and 40 controls. The sampling technique was purposive sampling. Univariate and bivariate data analysis utilized the Chi-Square test with α = 0.05. Result: The results of the study related to the incidence of pulmonary tuberculosis were knowledge (p-value = 0.040 and OR = 0.343), education (p-value = 0.044 and OR = 2.786), contact history (p-value = 0.000 and OR = 8.755), lighting (p-value = 0.002 and OR = 6.652), humidity (p-value = 0.007 and OR = 3.889), temperature (p-value = 0.016 and OR = 3.857). Conclusion: Factors associated with the incidence of pulmonary tuberculosis at the Pamulang Community Health Center in South Tangerang City include knowledge, education, contact history, lighting, humidity, and temperature. The Pamulang Community Health Center is expected to collaborate with community health workers to conduct outreach and education for patients and their families to reduce the transmission of pulmonary tuberculosis.
