Abstract

This Classroom Action Research (CAR) aimed to enhance the learning interest and active participation of 27 fourth-grade students (Class IV B) at SD Negeri Betet 3, Kediri City, regarding the material on combinations of basic locomotor, non-locomotor, and manipulative movements. The study employed a play-based approach using modified games—specifically Modified *Goboy*, Modified *Kasti*, Modified Handball, and Modified Target Ball—across two cycles, each comprising two sessions. Data were collected using observation sheets assessing learning interest and active participation on a 1–4 scale. The results showed an increase in learning interest from 61.57% in the pre-cycle stage to 82.87% by the end of Cycle II, while active participation rose from 62.15% to 80.79%. By the end of the study, 23 out of the 27 students had reached the "high" or "very high" category for both variables. The implementation of the action achieved a 100% success rate. Thus, the application of a play-based approach using modified games led to increased student learning interest and active participation in Physical Education (PJOK) lessons.

Abstract

This study aims to enhance students' active participation by implementing the Teams Games Tournament (TGT) cooperative learning model through modified invasion games within Physical Education, Sports, and Health (PJOK) lessons. The study employed a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design conducted over two cycles, with each cycle comprising two sessions. The subjects were 28 students from class V-A at SD Negeri Betet 3. Data were collected using an active participation observation sheet consisting of 10 items across five indicators: engagement in activities, physical movement, execution of tasks and roles, initiative and responsiveness, and group interaction. The instrument was validated by two experts, achieving an average Aiken’s V score of 0.92. The instructional intervention combined elements of basketball and handball—modified to increase opportunities for students to move, perform roles, respond to game situations, communicate, and collaborate. The results indicate that the percentage of active participation rose from 58.75% in the pre-cycle stage to 60.27% in Cycle I and 66.07% in Cycle II. An overall increase of 7.32 percentage points demonstrates that the minimum success threshold of 61% was achieved by Cycle II. Thus, implementing the TGT model through modified invasion games serves as a viable alternative for enhancing student active participation in elementary school PJOK lessons.

Abstract

This classroom action research aimed to improve throwing accuracy through the implementation of target games among sixth-grade students at SDN Betet 3 Kediri. The research involved 27 students and was conducted through a pre-cycle and two cycles, with each cycle consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection. The target games were implemented through four stations: Circle Throw, Throw into the Basket, Knock Down the Cone, and Attack the Fortress. Throwing accuracy was measured using the Tok Tok Ball Test from the TKSI Phase C package through ten underhand one-handed throws at a distance of three meters. The results showed a progressive improvement in throwing accuracy. The mean score increased from 3.67 in the pre-cycle to 5.07 in Cycle I and 6.22 in Cycle II. The proportion of students achieving at least the Good category increased from 7.41% (2 students) to 51.85% (14 students) and 92.59% (25 students), respectively. The success criterion of at least 80% was achieved in Cycle II. Within the context of this classroom action research, the implementation of target games was accompanied by an improvement in students’ throwing accuracy in elementary physical education.
