The rapid development of digital technology has created new challenges for Islamic education, particularly in maintaining teachers’ moral responsibility and ethical use of technology. This study examines the relationship between adab, digital ethics, and civic responsibility among Islamic educators in Malaysia and Indonesia. A mixed-methods sequential explanatory design was employed, involving a quantitative survey of 415 participants and qualitative interviews with five experts. The quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation, regression, and mediation analysis, while qualitative data were analyzed thematically. The findings indicate that adab orientation and digital-ethics competence are positively associated with patriotic-civic identity. Digital-ethics competence also partially mediates the relationship between adab orientation and civic identity. The qualitative findings show that educators view adab as an important foundation for responsible digital behavior, civic service, and the ethical use of artificial intelligence. Based on these findings, the study proposes the Adab–AI Patriotism Framework, which integrates moral development, digital ethics, faith, and civic responsibility in educator preparation. The framework highlights the importance of strengthening teachers’ ethical awareness and responsible use of technology in Islamic education. The study contributes to the development of Islamic education by providing an integrated framework for preparing educators to respond to digital challenges while maintaining moral and civic values.
