Abstract

Epulis often presents an aesthetic concern due to its location in the anterior region. The treatment involves eliminating any irritating factors, followed by surgical removal of the lesion. In young patients, a minimally invasive approach using a diode laser effectively reduces bleeding, accelerates healing, and alleviates discomfort. This report presents a 14-year-old male with the chief complaint of enlarged gums, which he had noticed three months prior. Intraoral examination showed the lesion to be localized in the interdental papilla between teeth 21 and 22, where a provisional diagnosis of epulis was established. The treatment was initiated with dental hygiene education, full mouth scaling, and polishing followed by epulis removal one week later using a diode laser, along with a diagnostic biopsy. Fourteen days postoperatively, an intraoral examination showed no residual epulis, a defined gingival margin, a pointed papilla, and a color blended with its surrounding tissue. The use of a diode laser for epulis removal in young patient proved to be an effective and minimally invasive treatment option. The results showed no evidence of residual epulis through normal probing depth and the absence of bleeding on probing. The patient expressed satisfaction with the treatment outcome.
