Abstract

Digital press releases have become an important form of professional communication in the hospitality industry, serving not only to disseminate information but also to promote services, construct corporate image, strengthen stakeholder relationships, and support tourism promotion. This study aims to analyze the communicative purposes, rhetorical structure, and linguistic features of digital press releases published by a four-star hotel in Madiun. A qualitative descriptive approach using Genre Analysis was employed, drawing primarily on the frameworks of Swales and Bhatia. The data consisted of nine English digital press releases published by Aston Madiun Hotel & Conference Center throughout 2025. The data were analyzed through the identification of communicative purposes, moves, steps, and linguistic features, followed by cross-text comparison. The findings reveal that the press releases serve five major communicative purposes: providing information, promoting products and services, strengthening corporate image, building stakeholder relationships, and supporting tourism and regional economic development. The analysis identified eight rhetorical moves realized through nineteen steps, including presenting a newsworthy headline, identifying the organization, presenting the dateline, introducing the main event, providing supporting information, presenting official quotations, highlighting corporate values, and closing with future commitment. The linguistic features include evaluative adjectives, promotional vocabulary, modal verbs, passive constructions, nominalization, direct quotations, inclusive pronouns, and expressions of commitment. These findings indicate that digital press releases function as a hybrid professional genre that integrates informative, promotional, public relations, and branding purposes. The identified genre patterns also provide authentic material for English for Specific Purposes (ESP) instruction, particularly in hospitality and professional communication.
