This study evaluates changes in the chemical composition of silica sand between mine-front (pit) material and product after washing and processing at PT Bupolo Indonesia, Central Kalimantan. The study applies a descriptive observational-comparative design rather than a causal experiment. Two sampling points were collected manually from the pit and two from the stockpile, followed by laboratory analysis at PT Sucofindo using an Inductively Coupled Plasma (ICP) method. The source manuscript reports pit results individually, whereas the stockpile is represented by one combined value for two sampling points; whether this value represents a composite sample or an average requires verification. The pit averages were 0.016% Fe₂O₃, 0.0385% TiO₂, and 99.62% SiO₂. The reported stockpile values were 0.018% Fe₂O₃, 0.140% TiO₂, and 99.45% SiO₂. Thus, Fe₂O₃ increased by 0.002 percentage points, TiO₂ by 0.1015 percentage points, while SiO₂ decreased by 0.17 percentage points. These data do not demonstrate that washing and screening improved chemical quality or caused the observed changes because the samples were not documented as paired material from the same batch and no analytical replication or mass balance was reported. The plant process can still support size classification and removal of physically separable impurities, but its performance for Fe–Ti-bearing minerals requires paired sampling, mineralogical characterization, and recovery–grade evaluation.
