Abstract

ABSTRACT The "Kuta Culture Weekend" performing arts program, organized by the Kuta Traditional Village at the open stage of Pura Segara, Kuta Beach, Bali, faces sustainability challenges due to design limitations that are not yet adaptive to the tropical coastal climate. This study aims to design a performance area that is functional, weather-adaptive, and contextual to local cultural values. A qualitative method was employed, using field observation, unstructured interviews with program managers, and questionnaires distributed to 10 tourists, 8 performers, and 2 organizers selected through purposive sampling. The results indicate that the adaptive application of the Tri Mandala concept in non-permanent open spaces effectively organizes performance, audience, and service zones hierarchically through differences in elevation, floor patterns, and landscape elements. The use of sustainable local materials such as treated bamboo and shingle roofing, combined with a wide-span semi-open structure, addresses weather-related challenges while reinforcing Balinese cultural identity. This design contributes to the development of a vernacular architecture-based performance space design model that is responsive to coastal climates and relevant to cultural arts preservation and tourism quality improvement.    Keywords: Interior Architecture, Performance Program, Tri Mandala, Beach Area Design
