Abstract

This study aims to identify the relationship between religious practices and existential anxiety among Generation Z students at the Faculty of Islamic Studies, Singaperbangsa University Karawang. Existential anxiety, which is related to questions about the meaning of life, purpose, and individual existence, often arises in students facing academic, social, and technological challenges. This study employs a quantitative approach with an associative research method, involving 100 students as a sample. Data was collected through closed-ended questionnaires using a Likert scale and analyzed using Pearson correlation tests. The results indicate a significant positive relationship between religious practices and existential anxiety, with a correlation coefficient (r) of 0.617 and a significance level of 0.000, meaning that the higher the frequency of religious practices, the higher the level of existential anxiety experienced by the students. Although religious practices can provide inner peace, habits of worship without a deep understanding of life's meaning can lead to reflections and existential unease. These findings suggest that for some students, religious practices can function as a coping tool for anxiety, although in some cases, religious practices may intensify feelings of existential anxiety. This study is expected to provide insights for the development of psychological and religious approaches in addressing existential anxiety among students.
