Abstract

This community service program aimed to improve the digital literacy of seventh-grade students at SMP Perguruan Islam Ar Risalah Padang through training on cloud-based productivity applications. In the digital era, the ability to utilize information technology has become an essential competency for students. However, preliminary observations revealed that most students used digital tools mainly for entertainment rather than academic purposes. To address this issue, the training introduced the use of Google Docs, Google Drive, and Canva to support independent learning, collaboration, creativity, and digital ethics. The program was implemented in three stages: preparation, implementation, and evaluation. The preparation stage involved module development and evaluation design using pre-tests and post-tests. The training included interactive lectures and practical exercises. Evaluation results showed a significant improvement in both cognitive and practical skills. The average cognitive pre-test score was 1.6 (out of 5), increasing to 3.8 on the post-test, a 137.5% improvement. The average practical skills score reached 7.6 out of 10. These results indicate that the training effectively enhanced students’ digital literacy and encouraged a positive attitude toward productive and responsible technology use. This program is recommended for replication in other schools to strengthen students’ digital competence from an early stage.
