Abstract

Preoperative anxiety is one of the conditions frequently experienced by patients before undergoing surgery. Anxiety can cause feelings of fear, worry, and tension in patients; therefore, non-pharmacological interventions are needed to help reduce anxiety levels. One method that can be used is dhikr therapy. This Community Service (PkM) activity aimed to implement Tasbih Dhikr therapy to help reduce anxiety levels among preoperative patients at Purwokerto Islamic Hospital. The implementation method involved providing Tasbih Dhikr, tahmid, and tahlil therapy for 10 minutes to preoperative patients. Anxiety levels were measured using the Amsterdam Preoperative Anxiety and Information Scale (APAIS) before and after the therapy. A total of 35 patients who met the inclusion criteria participated in this activity. The results showed that before the therapy, 8 participants (22.9%) experienced mild anxiety and 27 participants (77.1%) experienced moderate anxiety. After receiving Tasbih Dhikr, tahmid, and tahlil therapy for 10 minutes, 26 participants (74.3%) experienced mild anxiety and 9 participants (25.7%) experienced moderate anxiety. These results indicate a change in the distribution of anxiety levels after the administration of dhikr therapy. Tasbih Dhikr, tahmid, and tahlil therapy can be used as a non-pharmacological method to help reduce anxiety levels in preoperative patients.
