Abstract

Self esteem is an important aspect of psychological well being, especially during early adulthood when students face various academic and social challenges. Among the factors influencing self esteem, bullying and body image are important determinants that deserve attention in higher education. This study aims to investigate the impact of bullying and body image on self esteem among college students. This study used a quantitative approach, with a cross-sectional design. The study respondents were 104 students from the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas PGRI Adi Buana Surabaya. The research instrument used a validated scale measuring bullying, body image, and self esteem. Multiple linear regression analysis was conducted to test the hypotheses. The results showed that bullying had a significant negative effect on self esteem, while positive body image was associated with higher self esteem. Both factors simultaneously accounted for 53.5% of the variance in students' self esteem. These findings highlight the need for counseling and prevention programs to reduce bullying and promote positive body image in academic environments, which contribute to improved psychological well being.
