Abstract

This thesis aims to determine whether peer influence affects the bad speaking habits of fourth-grade students at SD Negeri Pondok Kacang Timur 04. This study employed a quantitative approach with a survey method. The research population consisted of 50 fourth-grade students. Because the population was relatively small, the entire population was used as the sample through total sampling, consisting of 25 students from class IV A and 25 students from class IV B. Data were collected through observation, questionnaires, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted using the t-test and coefficient of determination (R²) test. The results showed that peer influence affects the bad speaking habits of fourth-grade students, as indicated by a significance value of < 0.05. The coefficient of determination (R²) test showed that peer influence contributed 31.3% to students’ bad speaking habits, while the remaining 68.7% was influenced by other factors not examined in this study. These findings indicate that peer relationships play a role in shaping students’ speaking habits. Therefore, attention to peer interactions is important in efforts to support the development of positive speaking habits among elementary school students.
