Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of rule-play activities on the social development of children in group B of Aisyiyah 1 Palu Kindergarten. The problem underlying this study is the low social skills of children as seen from dominant behavior, lack of cooperation, and minimal friendly and empathetic attitudes while playing. In the implementation of learning in kindergarten, children's social activities have not received adequate attention because of the dominance of the academic approach. This study uses a quantitative descriptive approach, with 11 children (4 girls and 7 boys) as research subjects in the odd semester of the 2024/2025 academic year. Data collection techniques include observation of children's social development, interviews with class teachers, and documentation during the activity process. The observation instrument was developed based on indicators in Permendikbud Number 137 of 2014 concerning the social development of children aged 5-6 years. After playing activities with rules applied using jump rope, dragon snake, and hide and seek games, a significant increase was found in friendly attitudes (from 0% to 27%), cooperation (from 0% to 18%), and desire for social acceptance (from 0% to 27%). The results of the t-test showed a value of 12.309 with a significance of 0.000 (<0.05) which indicates that playing activities with rules are effective in improving children's social development.
